Visit Paris by swapping your home

Everybody loves Paris. This beautiful, sophisticated city is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. However, staying at hotels and eating every meal at restaurants is expensive and can make a Parisian hotel non-affordable.

For that reason more and more people are turning to home exchange for free accommodation. Parisians realize how popular Paris is as a destination and see home exchange as their own opportunity to travel to other places staying for free as well. Even if the home you can swap yours for is not next to the Eiffel Tower,

Paris has an excellent metro system and other forms of public transportation. You could use your home as a base from which to explore different areas of town. Also, living in less touristic areas allows travelers to experience “real life” in the city. It provides a view into the culture that would escape those limiting themselves to the tourist routes.

Home swapping also permits travelers to eat home cooked meals some of the time and save some money for the occasional meal at an elegant restaurant.

A longer stay in Paris may also allow time to discover lesser known attractions. For example, the Musee des Arts et Metiers, founded in 1794 for the preservation of scientific instruments and inventions. It houses all sorts of different interesting objects such as the Foucault pendulum, a device conceived as an experiment to demonstrate the rotation of the Earth.

Another possibility is staying outside Paris, even in a smaller town and making a shorter trip to Paris to enjoy its museums, shopping and landmarks. Here are a few Stay4free member homes available for exchange in Paris:
