Architect's home in Nelson City
About Our Home
Our large home is modern and architect-designed to make best use of the sun. We are up on a hillside, with superb views and sunsets, looking across Nelson Haven and Port Nelson to the western ranges, and out to Tasman Bay. We have 3 king/queen bedrooms and one single bedroom, a big and sunny living room with good AV equipment, satellite 50" TV and great view. Outside there are decks, terraces and BBQ for outdoor living, a spa and sauna, and we have a good gym set up in our garage for people like us that enjoy exercise. There is car parking, and the option of swapping cars (we have a Honda Odyssey 6-seater). The house is well furnished with plenty of local art, and is full of items we have collected in our travels around the world. We have a good library of books on travel and other subjects. We have broadband wireless internet. Nelson is a great base for many activities. Temperature is warm in summer and mild in winter, with more sunshine than anywhere else in New Zealand. It is a safe and small city (40,000 population) with a lively outdoor cafe culture and lots of places to walk or hike. Nelson region is known for its art, wine, food and outdoor activities. You can also have access to a second holiday home in the Marlborough Sounds. In June 2009, Nelson was voted one of the top three "most charming small towns in the world" by TripAdvisor.com - a website with 15 million viewers per week!! See (link replaced) for more. Many of our exchangers have told us that our home is the best they have exchanged to, both for the house and the location of Nelson.
