About Our Home
Our home is very comfortable & spacious. There are 4 bedrooms, 2 have double beds and the other 2 have a single bed + a small child bed (140 x 70 cm). So up to 6 adults and 2 small kids can stay at our home. One of the double rooms is a suite on the ground floor, with it’s own private bathroom and nice doors overlooking the terrace and rear garden with peaceful views. The remaining bedrooms are on the upper floor, including a bathroom with separate bath. The living room has a fireplace for a cozy relaxing evening. The spacious kitchen includes microwave and dishwasher and has a nice breakfast corner. Further there is a lovely high ceiling dining room and a TV room. We have a washing machine (no dryer), if needed. Toys and games are also available. Pantenburg is a small countryside community with approx. 300 inhabitants in the Eifel region, a low mountain range in western Germany, at the border with Belgium and Luxembourg. Closest city is the small town of Manderscheid with 2 supermarkets, bakery, butcher, bank, post-office, etc only 3 km away. This old farmhouse was remodeled with love 5 years ago and is now used as our weekend / holiday home. The home is in a very green, quiet neighborhood, with open, beautiful views from the back yard. The garden in enclosed with trees and various bushes and plants, including lovely berries in the right season...it has a big terrace, a sand pit and nice lawn for lovely BBQ afternoons in the sun set. There are several hiking possibilities close to the house as well as several small lakes and historic buildings. You will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Discover the Eifel region - some of the hills are volcanic vents - and it's peculiar circle-shaped lakes (maar) formed in volcanic craters. Don’t miss the 2 castles ruins of Mandescheid, which can be reached on a nice hiking, less then 3 km from our house. The biking trail Maare-Mosel Radweg passes though our village. This 55 km trail was built on the earlier train rails and goes from Daun to Bernkastel-Kues; having a max 3% inclination, it is suitable for all bikers, including children. There is even a bus, which will bring you and your bike back to Daun or Wittlich, where you can also hire bikes (not to Pantenburg)! Also some good day trips are possible; for example, Trier, the oldest German city with it’s Roman past is about 40 minutes away. Walk in Roman footsteps and appreciate the various monuments such as the 2nd-century city gate Porta Nigra, the Amphiteatre, the Barbarathermen the Romanesque cathedral (Dom). Another option is a day-trip along the Mosel valley, with it’s well-known vineyard-covered slopes and castles which can be reached in 35 minutes. Don’t miss picturesque Bernkastel-Kues and Cochem with it’s castle overlooking the river. Or take a 45 minutes ride through the highway directly to the famous Koblenz, where the Mosel meets the Rhine! Luxembourg is a short 1hour drive away so you can also enjoy what this nice country has to offer. And for those seeking more city trips, one might even consider Cologne, at one and a half hour drive!
Special Considerations
No smoking please! Some plants outside might need some water in the summer...If staying for a longer period, the lawn would need a trim as well...
