About Our Home
This is a small older house that I bought a few years before retiring, thinking to rent it to give me money for travel. I had to renovate it, and while doing so, fell in love with it and have lived there ever since fifteen years ago. It's on two acres, three quarters of an acre of which is in lawn, trees, flower and vegetable gardens, fully irrigated. The back acreage I've let my neighbours use for their horses, in return for which they look after the place when I travel during the four winter months. There are two small bedrooms upstairs. While not completely modernized in terms of redoing all the cupboards and so on, I did put in oak floors downstairs, and opened up the house so there's lots of light. I fully insulated the place, which is heated by electricity. I have my own water system which town folk come to use, as it's hard, but tastes wonderful. This is not a fancy place, but a wonderful, comfortable space. All modern conveniences, but no dishwater. It will appeal to anyone who loves quiet country living (two and a half kilometers from town), so absolutely quiet, except for the quail. A great place for a writer or artist or anyone who needs privacy and nature.
Special Considerations
No smoking ever! No pets, and few plants, but a full garden possible for the summer. This is orchard and vineyard country, and the town of Oliver is he Wine Capital of Canada, so dozens of vineyards for your tasting pleasure. A river just blocks away for walking along the bike/hiking path. Lots of recreational activities in the area, and arts group, etc. I have five good bikes in the shed. Lawn games, whatever.

Personal Message
I've travelled extensively, and have particularly enjoyed the fellowship at hostels, so have the same sort of ambience and expectation here. I often have visitors, as Oliver, BC is in the heart of wine country where tourism is the second industry, so it's important to phone ahead to see if I have a bed available.
