About Our Home
Set back from the road on a 1/4 mile driveway, the view from our passive solar house opens onto some of the most beautiful mountains in the Adirondacks. Downstairs is an open floor plan with a large kitchen, dining space, and comfortable sitting area.
Three bedrooms upstairs provide privacy, with an additional futon in a room above the garage. In addition to the warmth form the passive solar design, the house is heated with a wood stove.
Dozens of canoeing, hiking and biking routes are found within 1/2 hour drive; groceries and other necessities are available in Saranac Lake, a superb small town 12 miles away.
Special Considerations
Experience with a woodstove is a must for any exchange during the cooler months. No pets allowed, as we have two cats which will need to be cared for (very minimal.) No smoking.

About Us
- We are in our early 50's with a teenage daughter living at home and a son in college. Two all-weather cats round out the family.
- Rich is a research meteorologist managing the Atmospheric Research Center at Whiteface Mt. Ellen is an organic farmer and coordinator for a community garden in Saranac Lake.
- We take a low-key approach to getting to know a new place, walking around a lot and looking for offbeat attractions. We also love the chance to try out new restaurants!
Personal Message
We are new to the organized version of home exchanges, but have enjoyed exchanging visits with friends and acquaintances informally over the years. We are self-reliant types who will be respectful of your home, appreciating the opportunity to feel a bit more comfortable in a new environment.
